New things for my wardrobe to eat

New things: Fabric messenger bag, H&M black wool hat, Marks & Spencer black chelsea boots

First off I know the position of the hat irks the crap out of me but that's the best placement I can do #sorrynotsorry. Anyway I've been MIA for a few months and still very busy since then with college work. Definitely feeling guilty about neglecting the blog, but I always foremost prioritize education first.

I'll promise to give more attention and effort in the coming weeks to the blog since my summer holidays is starting in a few weeks time, which is fun for me. More time on the blog and other extra curricular things. Before that there's the finals exams for me so this and hopefully another blog post can get squeezed in before I completely go hiatus again before the exams to do copious amounts of studying. After that then I'm back for blogging business again. Isn't that good news? To those who follow me on twitter I mostly fill my presence over there more if you notice my excessive tweeting sometimes. Sometimes it would be nice to have enough time making blog posts but time is such a luxury honestly. Tweeting is so much easier or instagramming if I ever had one.

So presenting a singular photo above were my acquisitions during the past few weeks. First off was the H&M black wool hat  which was a lucky find in H&M. Apparently they have on/off sales now and again so I managed to find that piece while browsing. Nice change from beanies when the weather isn't too cold or for my ears to breathe at least, haha.

The second thing from the purchases is the Marks & Spencer black chelsea boots. Usually I snub the British retail giant on sale periods because their apparel are picked over so much by the time I get to one of their branches. Like 90% of the time and only bigger sizes are left. Bad timing I guess on my part? But this time I won the battle, by scoring the chelsea boots! They are 100% leather after inspecting so far and Marks & Spencer 99% of the time gives amazing quality so I was a happy camper after buying it. Even now I'm still happy I got it since of its styling versatility, because they're boots and its black! Hopefully that's my last pair of shoes to buy in a long while. Hooray for the first shoe buy in 2013 though. Can I get a woohoo?

Last thing I got was a fabric messenger bag  which was a present from a relative. Very nice of them to give something, I always love presents thank you to my relatives as always. Putting the bag already with most of my summer apparel & accessories since its a perfect fabric bag for summer with the unusual print. The texture feels like tweed as well which is pretty cool. Will be interesting in how I will style it in the summer. From the looks of it its also handmade. Haven't owned any handmade thing except some jewelry such as bracelets, so the bag is a nice addition to the wardrobe.

Note: Just one thing, I heard that Google connect is shutting down completely next week. So please follow the blog via Bloglovin instead. Thank you.

Neon Simpson

Apparel on me : River Island neon beanie, Thrift grey coat, Vintage Bart Simpson sweater, Red Herring jeans, M&S socks, Vintage Doc Martens 1461 & Leather bracelet via Monto, Assorted silver rings

For this outfit I added something a wee bit unusual for my style, a neon color. It also helped that certain item was pretty much cheap as chips (not really, chips would cost more than the hat ironically haha!). Also used it to my advantage to change up the vibe of the outfit slightly and by the looks of it the result is terrific. The grey and the faded blacks blended in seamlessly with the neon very well. Not bad for trying neon since usually my opinion on it isn't exactly "loving it", " the bomb diggity" or "this is the hot stuff".

Maybe the Bart Simpson print is nearing the end of the trend spectrum but I'd have to say tile style prints that are too quirky tend to end up like that (unless if you can incorporate it to your everyday style then props to you!). But I decided to join the Bart brigade anyway with my vintage sweater that has Bart aiming at you with a slingshot. Its actually my housewear (awkward) but I figure with the distress, aging & the "raggedy" vibe of it can fit in my style. Well my style for now is just dark colors (I doubt that's even a style, lol). Don't know about the pajamas as trousers or wearing a pajama suit but I can still get away with this even though its suppose to be for housewear only.

Although I'm having conflicted feelings about the grey oversize coat being donned on the above photo. Maybe its the "traditional man" in me that is wishing I should have opted for a better overcoat a nice tailored one perhaps. But of course being young, altogether deciding to ignore that because I'm such a "rebel" picking to deliberately wear baggy clothing. Do you get that feeling as well?

A|W Menswear favorites 2013

McQ by Alexander Mcqueen
photos are from style.com

Definitely I prefer this collection from McQ Alexander McQueen rather than the main line which crept me out with the alienoid shoulder pad and the colors wasn't exactly my taste. Only the printed suits appealed to me. But in this other line designed by Sarah Burton I consider it more my taste in terms of everything is more subtle from the colors, prints and even the shape of the clothing. Pretty much very streetwear and it reminds me of Topman Design's aesthetic a little bit. The reason why this is one of my favorites definitely the styling & the design of some apparel in the collection which took a different for than usual. Plus to a guy like me who isn't too fond of prints it changed my mind vastly about it altogether. Might go and try the extra effort to invest in some printed apparel for A|W 2013.

Belstaff

Very much having mixed opinions on Belstaff since its mostly outerwear apparel again (although I like their outerwear). A nice improvement color palette wise, fabrics and a wee bit more diversity on the apparel (there was only outerwear predominantly last season).  Definitely embodies the classic style for A|W which all means and its very masculine without sacrificing the modernity of the clothing. Somehow it reminds me of Burberry last season with the outerwear, fur and the color palette but nonetheless a great improvement from last season.

Moschino

Moschino, Moschino, Moschino! I want to repeat that name over and over again and I'll probably be biased about this one since its one of my all time favorite designers. Rosella Jardini has done it again for me this season! Always does the right amount of whimsical in the collections as usual. Its very balanced in terms of prints, fabrics & the styles of the apparel which definitely I fancy. I've always been a Balmain boy but maybe for A|W 2013 I'd like to be a Moschino boy too. Interesting that the ensembles themselves are balanced not just with variety but also has the same aesthetic from every outfit while still retaining the fun, the sartorial gentleman & punk-ish vibe going on.

Those are my favorite collections so far from Menswear's A|W 2013. What about you? Who are your favorites so far? You can check out more of the A|W 2013 Menswear further on Style.com if you want to see more designers showcasing their collection for A|W 2013 then.

Casual Monday

Apparel on me: H&M beanie, Fresh Biker jacket, Duck & Cover chambray shirt, M&S belt, Debenhams faded jeans, Doc Marten lizard boots, Studded leather bracelet via Monto

What's better to tackle the start of the week (which is in popular belief is boring and being dreaded by the most) to wear a nice casual outfit that consists your favorite things? Got my leather jacket, denim shirt, beanie, leather bracelet & boots which are some of my favorite things from my wardrobe. The other two are so-so because there's a love and hate with the jeans + beanie sometimes. I don't really believe the in the philosophy of wearing bright colors makes you happy and all that crap anymore. Apparently I sorta did, haha.

Now the better saying to follow is to wear your favorite pieces in the start of the week! It makes you feel confident and happy because not only they are your favorite pieces its also because you're wearing them too. This time my ensemble isn't inspired by anything this time. Just selected some of my favorite pieces from the wardrobe and once I wear them I feel like its a good (Mon)day already. Anyway wishing you all a good week ahead and can't wait to post more content again this week, since the weekend is up. Happy Monday!
